Skolen ble plassert på Enerhaugen, en liten forhøyning på Tuensletta, der det årlige flomvannet fra [[Øyeren]] sjelden rakk opp. Til skolen ble det fradelt en såkalt skolejord som lærerne kunne bruke. <br /> <br /> I andre etasje ble det innredet leilighet til læreren, men ved denne skolen ble den også leid ut til andre.<br /> <br /> Skolen ble nedlagt i 1957, og elevene fra Åkrene skolekrets ble overført til [[Hovinhøgda skole (Fet)|Hovinhøgda skole]].
