(født 27. april 1898 i [[Trondheim|Trondhjem]], død 1983) var overlege.<br /> <br /> Han var sønn av [[Christian Knudtzon Schaanning (1855–1923)|Christian Knudtzon Schaanning]] (1855–1923) og Arnolda von Westen Sylow Müller (1859–1944). Etter [[eksamen artium]] ved reallinja på [[Vestheim skole]] i 1916 tok han [[Krigsskolen]]s nederste avdeling. Han var fastlønnet sanitetskaptein mellom 1927 og 1936. Schaanning studerte nemlig også medisin, og var ferdig med cand.med.-graden i 1923. <br /> <br /> Etter ti år som assistent og reservelege i Tønsberg, Oslo (Rikshospitalet), Tromsø og Bergen fram til 1933 var han overlege ved [[Nordland fylkessykehus]] i [[Stokmarknes]], så overlege ved [[Gjøvik sykehus]] fra 1938 til 1968.<br /> <br /> Han gifta seg i 1927 med [[Sigrid Schaanning|Sigrid Gjønnæss]] (1905–2011). Paret fikk tre sønner, [[Christian Knudtzon Schaanning (1928–)|Christian]], [[Jan Thorvald Schaanning|Jan Thorvald]] og [[Carl Gustav Schaanning|Carl Gustav]]. I [[Gjøvik]] bodde de i [[Johan Sverdrups gate (Gjøvik)|Johan Sverdrups gate]] 9.<br /> <br /> Schaanning var spesialist i kirurgi fra 1932, og var kirurg under Vinterkrigen i Finland i 1940. Etter krigen fikk han Deltakermedaljen og Krigsmedaljen, og ved pensjonsalder [[Kongens fortjenstmedalje]].
