<p>Artikkelen ble opprinnelig lagt inn av Arendal kommune v Ann-Kristin R Jørgensen for kulturminneløypa.no</p> <p><b>Ny side</b></p><div>Videre fra [http://www.arendal.com/no/TellusView/?&amp;TLl=no&amp;TLp=536818 Tyholmen] mot sentrum av [[Arendal]] går man forbi Christian Poppes plass, og der finner man &#039;&#039;&#039;Det gamle politikammer&#039;&#039;&#039;, et okergult hus med restaurant i 1 etasje. <br /> <br /> Deler av dette huset er trolig fra 1658, men hoveddelen ble bygd i 1710. Panelet og listverket er fra den første halvdelen av 1700-tallet, døren er fra ca 1780-1800 og vinduene fra 1860-70. Det hørte flere uthus, sjøboder og pakkboder til huset. Disse er for lengst revet. Store deler av bygningen hviler på flåter som ble trykket ned til fast grunn, og det er målt at disse ligger ned til 10 meters dyp.<br /> <br /> Legg merke til ”kragen” som utgjør 2. etasjen i bygget. På grunn av plassmangel for bygging ble alle muligheter for utnyttelse av arealet brukt.
