|Description	= In approx 1000 AD King Olav Tryggvason of Norway sent missionaries to Iceland with the instruction to build a church wherever they reached the shore. At the 1000th anniversary of this remarkable event, the current Norwegian government made the decision to build another church at approximately the same location. The church was built in Norway as a copy of Haltdalen stave church in Trøndelag folkemuseum, Trondheim, Norway. When finished it was  transported to its current location, and apparently assembled in two days.&lt;br /&gt;
