Det var Norges første kunstfrosne skøytebane, åpnet i 1966 og offisielt innviet i 1969 (da med tribune for 5000 tilskuere). Valle Hovin brukes i dag mest til trening og mindre stevner, samt bandy. Banen er islagt fra november til mars.
