I 1957 vart elevane frå [[Havrenes krins]] flytta til Florø folkeskole. Folketalet steig og i 1970-åra gjekk det kring 500 elevar på skulen. <br /> <br /> Skulen har adresse Firdavegen 2 og ligg ved sidan av det første [[Malkeneshuset|skulehuset]] i krinsen. <br /> <br /> Namnet på skulen var Florø folkeskole fram til 1980, då skifta den namn til Florø barneskole.<br /> <br /> ==Skulehuset==<br /> Då skulehuset stod nytt i 1934, hadde bygginga kosta 500 0000 kroner. Det var ein stor pengesum i dei harde 30-åra. <br /> Skulen var bygd i vinkel med fire etasjer. For å spare pengar vart det satt inn 20-30 vedomnar i staden for sentral oljefyr. Dette skapte mykje arbeid for pedell Jacob Høivik. Opp med ved i fire etasjar kvar morgon og tømme oske kvar kveld. <br /> <br /> I 1956-59 vart skulehuset påbygd både vestover og sørover og fekk då den forma den har i dag. Nordfløyen vart forlenga vestover og sørfløyen vart forlenga og påbygd ein etasje i høgda. Utvidinga førte til at gymnastikksalen fekk scene mot sør og i den gamle vedakjellaren vart det symjebasseng. Skulekjøkkenet vart flytta til den nye etasjen over gymnastikksalen. <br /> <br /> ==Anna bruksområde==<br /> Skulen fungerer framleis som skule. Lenge var Florø folkeskole det største forsamlingslokalet i byen og fleire større arrangement og markeringar vart halde på skulen. Blant anna storparten av Florø by sitt 100-års jubileum.
