<p>Arkivportalen, råtekst</p> <p><b>Ny side</b></p><div>Hamar Handelsstandsforening ble stiftet 02.02.1854 av handelsborgerne og detaljhandlerne i Hamar. Foreningen har spilt en betydelig rolle i utformingen av Hamar by opp gjennom årene. Hamar ble grunnlagt i 1849 som en kjøpstad for det indre Østlandsområdet, og byens handelsmenn har derfor frem til ca. 1980 hatt stor innflytelse på byens styre og stell. De store endringene i omsetningslivet siden 1980-tallet da de store kjedene overtok det meste også av detaljhandelen, har ført til at Hamar Handelsstandsforening har søkt samarbeide med andre organisasjoner for å ivareta sine medlemmers interesser, og Hamar Handelsstandsforeningen er en aktiv partner i Hamar Sentrumsforening.
