Det var ekteparet Molly og Rob Lehmann som tok initiativ til gaven, da de ble så imponerte over hvordan Norge møtte volden og terroren med kjærlighet. For instituttets gavepenger ønska de at nonnene skulle etablere et minnesmerke til ære for dem som ble ramma. <br /> <br /> == Utforming ==<br /> <br /> Klosteret har sju ulike hager med sitt særpreg, og nå omgjorde anleggsgartner [[Ragnar Arentz]] og arkitekt [[Per Anders Letnes]] en av hagene til en slags steinørken. Rommet er på 10-12 kvadratmeter og er skilt fra kirkerommet med glassvegg og har overlys og rullesteiner. En plate i larvikitt, samme stein som er brukt i alteret, ble utskåret etter tegning av [[Børre Larsen]]. Den har samme hjerteform som [[Utøya (Hole)|Utøya]] og har et hull i midten der det kommer vann opp. Svart larvikitt er brukt i fontenen som symboliserer regjeringskvartalet. <br /> <br /> Minnehagens hovedverk er utforma av kunstneren [[Anne Karin Furunes]]. Det er en frise som er 5,5 meter lang og som viser tre planter. Motivene er laga ved å bore hull i aluminiumsplater. Den første er en visna lilje, med bøyd hode som i sorg. Den andre er en fiol med hjerteforma blad, også den med bøyd hode, men med en knopp som symboliserer håp og styrke. Den siste er to nypegreiner som danner et kors, som da symboliserer døden. Korset har spirende blader som er et symbol for livet.<br /> <br /> [[Olav Storli]] og [[Torgeir Valberg]] fra [[Frosta hagelag]] har laga en gangsti i tre. To lokale kunstnere, [[Guri Rygg]] og [[Anne Øren Bratsvedal]] har gitt inspirasjon til skiltet med datoen 22.07.2011 utforma med romertall.<br /> <br /> Nonnene kjøpte også inn en gong gong som de bruker i sin Angelus-bønn, dvs. ettermiddagsbønnen, hver dag. Ved å be denne bønnen i takt med gong gongen, tar nonnene med seg alle som lider av terror og vold inn i sin hverdag.<br /> <br /> == Symboltung åpningsseremoni ==<br /> <br /> Minnehagen ble offisielt åpna 29. september 2012. Seremonien var enkel og symboltung; med salmesang, taler og bønn for alle som ble ramma av volden.
