Fotograferte først i Strudshavn og Bergen, drog så til Amerika i 1882, og kalte seg da han kom tilbake for O. M. J. Ramsey. Ca. 1908 konstruerte han et flytende &quot;atelier&quot; som han reiste rundt i Vestlandsfjordene med, men hadde visstnok meget dårlige lysforhold ombord, for bildene ble ikke gode. Han signerte dem med &quot;O. M. J. Ramsey, Flyd-Atelier&quot;. Han gjorde også et forsøk på å fremstille brevkort med en norsk frihetsgudinne for salg i Amerika, men det kom sannsynligvis aldri i handelen. Ble kalt &quot;Elvakongen&quot; på grunn av sitt flytende atelier.
