Han jobbet som vegvokter og hadde derfor gode kunnskaper om bearbeiding av stein. Mest sannsynlig brukte han steinkiler for å dele fjellet, og skaffe til veie fjellblokkene. Disse fjellblokkene flyttet han deretter ved hjelp av spett og &quot;vågemat&quot;. Det var ellers vanlig å bruke ild for å få stein til å sprekke.<br /> <br /> Even Evensen hadde to navngitte medhjelpere i arbeidet med å bygge hytta. Det var Jens Rindal og Anton Korslund. <br /> <br /> Innvendig er hytta laget med enkel innredning. Den hadde en seng under vinduet og ei hylle i stein på venstre side etter inngangen. Bordet var laget av kvernstein. Opprinnelig var det ovn midt i hytta, men en nyere peis er plassert i ene hjørnet. Taket var opprinnelig laget av blikkplater, som skulle rulles for å bli blikkbokser på Kapp melkefabrikk.
