Tærud krets var i [[1860]] blitt skilt fra [[Gjellerås skole|Gjellerås]] krets, og i 1861 besluttet skolekommisjonen at den nye kretsen skulle inndeles i to grender: Bergergrenden (Nordli, Skarud, Holm og flere) og Tærudgrenden (Tærudgårdene, Fossum, Huseby, Solberg, Wærhaug, Jogstad og flere).<br /> <br /> Det var først tale om å bygge skolehus på Sandbakken, men valget falt etter hvert på Midtskog.
