Dette var steiner som ga naturlig le for vær og vind, og var akkurat i passelige å sitte på. I 2013 er det ingenting igjen av disse steinene. De ble sprengt bort da de laget veien som er i dag. Pilegrimmer på vei til Nidaros hvilte sine føtter her, før de ga seg ivei med nedturen til Eidstutrø. Transporten av kvernsteiner fra Selbu gikk over her, og mangt et plankelass har passert Tuftstuggu. Hvem vet om de underjordiske tuftene viste seg for de reisende på denne plassen.
